Upon settling in Fonthill from Vancouver Island 10 years ago, Ruth Nixon opened The Whisk & Ladle on December 1, 2006. It was her plan to open Niagara’s only Culinary Boutique encompassing both a quality kitchen accessory store and a professional kitchen where she could create culinary feasts for catered events & gourmet prepared meals. In late 2007 The Whisk & Ladle began to host cooking classes, where Ruth imparts her knowledge and experience with foods from all over the world.
In 2004 Ruth attended the prestigious Stratford Chefs School and graduated with honours in June of 2006. Previous to her training in Stratford she worked for15 years at various restaurants including: The Buttery, NOTL, The Stone Road Grille, NOTL and Missoula's River Cafe & Grille in BC.
