Christmas in Pelham - President's Column

During the weekend of Fri. Dec. 4th and Sat. Dec.5th the Pelham Business Association will once again be hosting a two-day Christmas in Pelham program that promises to transform the villages of Fonthill, Fenwick and Ridgeville into inspiring centres of holiday cheer and smart shopping.

The PBA has organized a program packed with free festivities for the whole family, including horse-drawn hay rides, visits with Santa, and entertainment from carolers and musicians, while special shopping events and open houses have been organized by more than 45 participating businesses. Be sure to drop by to visit Santa at the Band shell between 11am and Noon on Saturday Dec. 5th and bring along donations for the Pelham Food Drive.

Highlights of the weekend are performances by the Treblaires at Lookout Ridge Retirement Community on Friday evening 7:00-8:00pm and Solstice at the Log Cabin on Saturday afternoon between 2 and 4pm. Children's choirs from St. Alexander's, St. Ann's and Glynn Green will also help usher in the season of good cheer with performances at Shopper's Drug Mart, the Fonthill Bandshell and Keith's Restaurant. There several other musical events planned and all are listed in the Christmas in Pelham brochure.

This brochure also showcases our vibrant local business community as it also serves as a "shopping passport" that can be validated at a minimum of 25 participating stores until 3pm on December 18th. Completed passports are eligible for entry into a draw to win $1000 in Pelham shopping dollars. The Christmas in Pelham passport brochures have already been distributed throughout Pelham and are available on-line and from participating merchants.

The name of the lucky winner will be drawn by last year's recipient, at the Olympic Torch Relay Community Celebration at Peace Park on Monday December 21. The PBA has partnered with the Town of Pelham and other community groups to promote the Olympic torch festivities and we encourage all citizens to come out in full red and white, flag waving form and line our downtown streets with Pelham pride.
